Business Development Summer Intern


International Financial Consulting Ltd. (IFCL), is a Canadian owned advisory firm, working with governments, Export Credit Agencies, ExIm banks and Development Banks around the world to help strengthen their institutions, programs and products, and fulfill their public mandates to deliver targeted and positive impact to their stakeholders.

IFCL is currently seeking a Business Development Summer Intern based in South West New Brunswick to advance its broader development impact goals via supporting its corporate and business development activities. The individual will contribute to the development of new opportunities in key areas such as climate and trade finance and broader economic development in developing countries. 

This is a 4-month full-time contract position.  Ideally, the selected candidate will start in May 2021 with the possibility of a contract extension based on candidate suitability and performance.

Role and responsibilities 

The Business Development Summer Intern will support the Corporate Development and Operations Director and assist the Business Development Coordinator in coordinating and supporting new business opportunities, developing compelling graphics and marketing materials, supporting communications content development including social media posting and database management. 

The individual may also support the broader implementation of IFCL’s annual business planning including enhancement of its project delivery, operational and human resource capabilities.  Tasks will include written and analytical input on reports, publications and articles developing presentations and supporting other tasks utilizing critical communication and analytical skills.

The candidate would receive hands-on mentoring and capacity building.  By the end of the term, the candidate will have developed skills in business planning, marketing, community engagement, administration, leadership, operations, and finance.  The role would require the candidate to focus on bringing economic development, community development and energy conservation.


The ideal applicant will have completed post-secondary education in business or a related field and demonstrates skills in business planning, marketing, client relationship management, administration, and operations. Exceptional writing skills and analytical abilities are a must. Knowledge of trade and development finance is considered an asset.  The candidate must be based in South West New Brunswick.
