To help develop an explicit statutory mandate and a clear corporate vision to guide its public policy role of facilitating access to affordable housing, a national housing organization engaged International Financial Consulting Ltd. in 2014. Our aim was to help improve the client’s strategic and operational efficiency and effectiveness, strengthening it to meet the housing needs of lower-income families as well as collect adequate revenue to cover its operational costs. We presented 22 recommendations to thoroughly address the institutional challenges we had identified. These recommendations covered the client's mandate, functions, policies and strategies, human resource management system, and financial and operational performance. One of the important components of this project was a policy thrust that would allow women better access to low-income housing. These recommendations will strengthen the client's institution in fulfilling a clear policy mandate of providing access to affordable housing to those who need it the most.
