His areas of expertise include sustainable business, advisory, project origination, climate change, ESG, impact investing, banking, carbon tax, financial services, private equity, credit risk management, and training and development. He believes that capital flows are key in the global transition to a low carbon economy and meeting the commitments of the Paris Agreement, and as a result he has endeavored to bring innovative ideas to market.

Alex spent 18 years in corporate and commercial banking as he led a specialized consulting and training business in financial services. He has led diverse teams of expert bankers to implement innovative ideas leading to enhanced risk management practices, development of more profitable relationships, generation of climate-related business opportunities, and more effective communication among senior managers. His assignments across 5 continents provided in-depth knowledge of international banking operations of clients that include Citi, HSBC, Santander, BBVA, Scotiabank, and Standard Chartered. Prior to that, Alex worked for a global Chinese industrial machinery manufacturer in Hong Kong, for the business development area of Fiat do Brasil, and the Junior Consulting Enterprise of Fundação Getúlio Vargas.
He is trained in the Global Reporting Initiative framework (GRI) and is an FSA Level I credential holder with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). He is also an Advisory Board member of Giramundo Mutuando, a Brazil-based NGO engaged in agroecology and sustainable development.
Alex Moreira has a master’s degree in Sustainable Business from the University of Miami Herbert School of Business, a master’s degree in Science of Management from Hult International Business School in Boston, a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from FGV in São Paulo, a Spanish Studies diploma from Universidad Complutense in Madrid, and a Harvard Extension School diploma in English language skills. He is tri-lingual English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
